Dear Missouri Drinking Water and Wastewater Systems,

Recently, the Presidential Budget was presented to the public.  In the President’s Budget, the Rural Development Loans and Grant Program, officially known as the USDA Water & Waste Disposal Loan & Grant Program, is presented as being funded with $0 dollars.  Yes, you read that correctly, ZERO, for public drinking water and wastewater projects through Rural Development.  If you are pending a Rural Development project, then this is of particular interest to you. Should this come to fruition, your project may not be funded if it is not completed yet.

However, keep in mind that it is Congress that ultimately sets the appropriations for the budget.

Attached, you will find two letters:  one written from a standpoint of a system that is pending a Rural Development project and another from a Public Official such as a Mayor, Board President, etc.  We ask that you utilize these templates to make it known to your Federal Congressional Office, and Senators Blunt and McCaskill, that your project is a benefit to rural Missouri and that the USDA Water & Waste Disposal Loan & Grant Program be fully funded in the Congressional Budget.  If you are a system that has completed a Rural Development drinking water, or wastewater, project, feel free to utilize the letter to express the benefit the project has provided for you community and why this program should not be cut from rural Missourians.

If you need assistance in understanding who your appropriate Congressional office is in Washington, D.C., or simply need their address, please do not hesitate to contact me via email at, or call me on my cell phone at 417-988-9911.

Time is of the essence and your voice needs to be heard in Washington, D.C.

I am,

Sincerely yours,

Randy L. Norden
