Missouri Rural Water Association is looking to hire a Source Water Technician immediately. The Individual must be able to travel, be a self-starter, and have good people and computer skills.

Job responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Focuses on Local Communities:

The program emphasizes community engagement and collaboration, with local teams creating source water protection plans.

  • Partners with Government Agencies:

Technicians work with USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) specialists and state/county FSA staff.

  • Identifies Pollution Prevention Areas:

Technicians work with state rural water associations and local teams to identify areas where pollution prevention is most needed.

  • Develops Rural Source Water Protection Plans:

Teams collaborate to create plans promoting clean source water, outlining voluntary actions farmers and ranchers can take.

  • Promotes Water Quality Education:

The program works at a grassroots level to educate and inform rural residents about steps to prevent water pollution and improve water quality.

  • Field Assessments and Monitoring:
    • Conduct field inspections to identify potential pollution sources in rural areas.
    • Monitor water quality parameters and document findings.
  • Technical Assistance and Outreach:
    • Provide technical assistance to landowners and communities on best management practices for protecting water sources.
    • Conduct outreach and educational programs to raise awareness about water quality issues.
  • Plan Development and Implementation:
    • Participate in the development of rural source water protection plans in collaboration with local stakeholders.
    • Assist in implementing the plans, monitoring progress, and making adjustments as needed.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
    • Work with NRCS specialists, FSA staff, state rural water associations, and other stakeholders.
    • Build relationships with local communities and landowners.
  • Data Management and Reporting:
    • Collect and analyze data related to water quality and pollution prevention efforts.
    • Prepare reports and presentations to stakeholders.
